Is It That Important?

Updated: Dec 11, 2020

The year 2020 has taught us a significant amount. It has taught us a lot about each other and it has taught us a lot about ourselves. The human race was not meant to be alone. We learned that very early when God himself said that it wasn't good for man to be alone. People need each other. This year we all have made due with the lot we've been dealt. Churches have reluctantly closed their doors only to see their congregations never get back to full attendance. The church has been a powerful force since it was established. The scripture that comes to mind is, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another" Hebrews 10:25. The writer stresses the importance of a gathering place where people can come to worship. Online services and parking lots were the best we could do and I was encouraged by the efforts but, it's just not the same. Is going to church really that important? I think 2020 has answered that question for us. The times that we sat in a pew thinking of all the things we needed to get done were replaced with boredom at our houses with nothing to do. Attending a church service won't solidify your standing with Christ however, the atmosphere found in a spirit filled worship service, followed by the anointed preaching of Gods holy word is water to a thirsty soul. Yes, it's that important. The house of God is vital for a believer. It is critical for a sinner.
